Day 6 #waltons Uvongo Holiday {Thursday}

Today is very hot. I don’t love very hot. It was uncomfortably HOT!

Not much happened.

The kids swam, we drove to Ramsgate for kite flying, kids swam in the sea, kids swam in pool, Noid took kids to the Uvongo beach for more swimming. Noid braaied. I washed dishes.

Day 5 #waltons Uvongo Holiday {Wednesday}

Noid made a fry up breakfast which I am convinced Jenna-Lee thought was mince.

We, the adults were not in the mood for the beach….so we went to Shelly Centre and did some shopping.

Afterwards the boys went go karting and the girls did those blow up balls on the water thing.

We had fish, chips and vetkoek by Shelley Beach and watched the waves.

I went to at least four book shops today which was awesome and Noid discovered a sweet shop. I am not big on sweets, but got lemon pie I am yet to try.

Oh we also sent our laundry in for washing today. Only 22kg’s!

Off to the beach. Kev actually did go swimming in the sea with the rest of the clan which makes a change.

We had dinner at a German restaurant at St Michael’s On Sea. Couldn’t pronounce anything but the food was great!

This is how the evening ended:

Day 4 #waltons Uvongo Holiday {Tuesday}

Uvongo beach is few steps away and seems to be a favourite. We took the kids to the beach where my umbrella made things unpleasant for me, the sand climbs in everywhere even if you just sitting on the beach {I like the sea, just from a distance!} and I came to the conclusion our population’s sight is shot! Spec savers should be free, not just for under 12’s!!!!

Many men and woman alike look like shit. Men with huge boep stomachs parading on the beach, proudly showing off their love for beer, or that like woman, they actually have very little self control when it comes to eating! Woman may prefer dessert but men must prefer something else cause they not lacking in body fat!

Woman, much the same. The more normal of us will try at least by wearing shorts over the bathing costume, or a wrap but some seems to think they are Bo Derek at the sight of a wave.

I watch in amazement… and disgust but realize I may not be Mrs World but I didn’t see anyone perfect either.

I did pray to be anorexic again to that God that laughs when he hears me knocking. Stand up comic he nudges St Peter.

At home these people wouldn’t parade like this, but at the smell of sea water the Pamela Anderson in all fat men and woman are born.

Even I who would never wear a LONG short {I have glasses and have a mirror and under no illusion that I am fat} to my local Spar feel okay to wear a long shirt and shorts to the shops. Scary shit.

A nation of many fat, blind people at the smell of a soft serve ice cream and a rented boogie board.
The kids spent most of the afternoon in the complex pool…

Noid and I read {Since we have arrived, I have finished two books… ‘An Affair to Forget’ by Mari Opperman and Janie Du Plessis autobiography}. Noid is reading the new Wilbur Smith book…I thought I forgot ‘The Bean Trees’ at home but found it under my towels. Also in the midst of reading Paulo Coelho’s ‘Veronika decides to die’.

Noid and I had to go grocery shopping for braai and breakfast and later on Noid made a braai. He makes nice food, especially meat.

I hid chocolate eggs under the kids pillows. I wish I was my kid, but only for the nice moments.

Day 3 #waltons Uvongo Holiday {Monday}

Today just flew by!

We spent the entire day round the beach…

We visited St. Michaels and Noid decided the waves to be not proper…..

We passed Lucky’s Discount Centre as I now needed a BIG umbrella…. Mmmmm we left with R700 worth of fishing gear, a gorgeous purple wrap….and an umbrella!

Eventually we settled on Margate beach. Not my favourite, too commercial but everyone else seemed to like it except that they all got slammed dunked in the waves, we got someone trying to sell us time share {ugh!!!!!} … and Noid bought another kite!

We had lunch at Larry’s {again}, Noid took some kids fishing, I shopped with others…then Noid took kids swimming and I started preparing dinner.

Girls are once again asleep straight after bathing and having dinner!

Day 2 #waltons Uvongo Holiday {Sunday}

Woke up with ulcer pain from the pit of hell. Ouch! Watched the start of the F1 with Noid and Kev and lay down, waiting for the pain to go. Noid gave me some cornflakes and coffee and when everyone was ready I got up.

We went to the Uvongo flea market which I have always loved. Not sure if it is because it is Sunday or maybe it is not so popular anymore but it was tiny and very unexciting. Sadly so. Not even a pancake in sight!

We took a drive out down the coast, checking out all the spots…. I love driving like that at the coast, wind in your hair….

Pistols Saloon was on my list of things I would like to do. They use to have this pig that walked around like a dog but he died, so now there is a donkey! Poor Douglas got such a fright when the donkey mistook his orange fanta for a carrot and made a big mess over the table. Everyone liked the decor and museum although the staff was seriously unfriendly. We had pizza which was really nice and off we went to Riverbend Crocodile Farm.

Riverbend Crocodile Farm is a place we have visited since Victoria was three months old!! We watched a snake presentation with interesting facts and then watched the crocodiles being fed chickens. Feathers and all!

I did not have my big camera bits with me. So many lovely photo opportunities. It was all very cool. Lucky for us the last batch of crocodile eggs hatched today. It was amazing hearing what happens when and seeing these crocodiles being born. This was my favourite moment of the day.

Afterwards kids were allowed to hold a new born crocodile. As the crowds left, I asked if I could….. This from a woman who have never held a puppy or a kitten. Even her own kids she recommended bath first! Hahah! It was awesome and very exciting.

The kids swam in the pool the rest of the day. I bathed and read the local newspaper.

Noid was by now ill with stomach ache. I made ham and cheese rolls for supper and had to repeat three times that I am not taking orders. This is not a restaurant! I also washed the dishes twice. Far too primitive for me.

After seven months on my own I find it strange to be a step-mom, having Noid around 24/7 and dealing with my own kids….. not pushing the shopping trolley AND besides all that goes on in my head. Life’s small challenges!?
