Kyle (18) (my adopted by heart son) , Nic (my step son – hate that step word) (20) and Kev (my biological first child) (17). Our oldest boys – I feel especially thankful for them. They are three completely individual personalities and although I only physically carried one of them, I couldn’t love them all more if I tried.
I am thankful that Kyle’s dad, Eddie (shame, he hates being called that, hahaah) and Nic’s mom, Cal shares their sons with me with such grace and instead of seeing me as a threat, sees me as somebody who adds to their kids lives. It is an honour to be trusted with your sons. I am thankful that Noid accepted Kyle as part of me and the family (when we already have six kids!) and our Kevin off course as his step-son. He cares about all of them (and off course our other kids) and supports me completely. My husband is a blessing in many ways with a tiny heart and a big voice. *wink*
Love doesn’t take from anyone, it embraces and brings joy. The boys and the relationships I have with them are a blessing in my life and I know I make a difference in theirs. We are a family, from the heart.
I chatted to each one of the boys on bbm/whatapp yesterday about different things…. and each one was affectionate, lovable, calls me Mom and says love you…. I am thankful that as almost adults they interact with me, tell me their issues and trust me with them. They are each one very special to me.
I am proud to call them SONS.
You don’t raise heroes, you raise sons. And if you treat them like sons, they’ll turn out to be heroes, even if it’s just in your own eyes. ~Walter M. Schirra, Sr.
