Hello my dear friends and other interesting creatures,
Imagine that! An entire month dedicated to South African craft beer and food pairing is being launched this febrewery in Johannesburg. It is kinda like Movember, except the men look better? Personally I LOVE the name. 🙂
“No one can argue that the craft beer explosion has been nothing short of revolutionary,” says febrewery founder, Chris de Beer. “As an ardent beer drinker and supporter of local businesses, the time seemed right to show discerning restaurant-goers and avid craft beer enthusiasts that their two passions can mix. That is febrewery!”
“For a long time, wine has always been the category of choice to pair with food. febrewery will offer patrons a taste experience that goes beyond just ordering a beer with a meal.”
As drinking and driving is simply not sexy, SnappCab has been appointed as the official transport partner. The service is available to you to sign up via the web (Apple App Store, Google Play and Blackberry World) and I would encourage you to sign up before the beer starts pairing you without car keys.
febrewery runs from February 1st – February 28th 2014 at these participating restaurants:
Beefcakes Burger Bar: +27 11 447 5266
Rabbit in the Moon: +27 11 447 6720
Rocket (Parkhurst): +27 11 880 6102
Rocket (Rivonia): +27 11 234 8807
“Each restaurant has selected three main dishes that our resident ‘go-to-craft-beer-guru’ Jason Cederwall from Craft Liquor Merchants has paired with an authentic local craft beer. We’ve tried to mix it up so restaurant patrons will be able to enjoy their favourite local brew or restaurant dish, but also have the opportunity to experience new and exciting combinations throughout the campaign.”
You can follow febrewery online at: @febrewery on twitter, and/or like their www.facebook.com/febrewery page.
I shall report back on my beer pairing experience and perhaps I shall take a Snapp Cab just for fun.
Btw, if you are a beer geek like me, you may want read up so you can talk with the big boys… Never say I didn’t try and be proper, so read HERE.
