Why You Should Drink Aloe Vera Gel.

Dear friends and other interesting creatures,

It is important to me that I share information with you on products that have helped me cope with fibromyalgia.

Fibromyalgia Quick Facts

  • Affects 3 to 5 percent of the general population
  • Occurs in people of all ages, even children
  • Symptoms are chronic but may fluctuate throughout the day
  • Roughly one-quarter of people with fibromyalgia are work-disabled

So why should you drink Aloe Vera Gel? Simple, because its contents are beneficial to your general health and well-being. Here’s a breakdown of the many amazing health benefits of aloe vera gel.

Amino Acids

About 75% of the human body is made up of amino acids. Every single functioning of the body depends on amino acids and the proteins they build. Some therefore say Amino acids are the legos for your life because the kinds of amino acids found in your body lead to the kind of proteins formed and ultimately, how your body functions. Of the 22 amino acids needed by the body to function, Aloe Vera provides 20. More importantly, it provides 7, some say all 8 essential amino acids the body cannot manufacture. One of the best known essential amino acid is Tryptophan which performs several critical functions for people such as induce normal sleep, help reduce anxiety and artery spasm risk, help produce a stronger immune system.

  • D – Healthy bones;
  • A – Good Eye sight;
  • C – helps with healing and fights infections;
  • B – helps make protein and energy;
  • E – helps maintain the body’s tissues, protect lungs and helps in red blood cell formation;
  • K – the Clot master.

  • Calcium – Teeth and bone formation, Muscle contractions, heart health
  • Magnesium – Strengthens teeth and bones, maintains healthy muscle and nervous system, activates enzymes.
  • Zinc – Speeds up wound healing, mental alertness, healthy teeth, bones, skin, immune system, aids digestion.
  • Manganese – Activates enzymes, builds healthy bones nerves and tissues.
  • Chromium – Helps in the metabolism of protein, and the balancing of blood sugars.
  • Copper – Red blood cells formation, helps maintain healthy skin and hair.
  • Iron – Oxygen transportation in the body, making of haemoglobin in red blood cells.
  • Potassium – Fluid balance in the body.
  • Phosphorous – Builds healthy bones and teeth, aids in metabolism, and helps maintain the body’s pH.
  • Sodium – Regulates body liquid, delivers nutrients into body cells, in charge of nerve and muscle performance.

Polysaccahrides – Most worthy of mention here is acemannan which not only has anti-viral and gastrointestinal properties but also has the ability to modulate the immune system. This is a very important function. Acemannan stimulates the body’s macrophages which stop viruses from multiplying. Macrophages are the deep cleansers of the immune system that can destroy small particles such as toxic chemicals and tumors. Acemannan also helps lubricate the joints and line the colon. That’s why aloe is great for colon cleansing.

These break down the protein we eat into amino acids, and turn food into fuel for every body cell. In other words, they break down sugars and starches; help in the digestion of fats and cellulose; aid in metabolism, and prevent the accumulation of water in the body. The enzyme known as Bradykinase, helps reduce inflammation when applied to the skin.

Aloe Vera has 12 of them. These have anti-viral, anti-bacterial and analgesic properties. The anthraquinones in Aloe Vera break up residue, pus, lifeless cells, bring blood to the region and flush out material from wounds and ulcers.

It is this ingredient in Aloe Vera that gives it the effective penetrating capability to transport all of Aloe’s goodness and healthy substances deep into the layers of the skin.

These soapy substances give aloe its cleansing and antiseptic effect on bacteria, viruses, fungi and yeasts such as candida or ‘thrush’ .

Plant Sterols

These have fatty acids that have antiseptic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Remember, aloe vera oxidizes easily which means it looses its nutrients very quickly. Aloe Vera would turn brown just as a cut apple or banana would turn brown after being exposed for a while. Look for stabilized aloe vera gel to ensure you’re getting all the benefits of the gel. “Stabilized” means all the goodness and nutrients of the aloe have been “locked in”. Forever Living Products owns the patent for stabilizing aloe vera gel and produces the purest form of consumable aloe world wide.

Most people’s concern about the bitter taste of aloe vera gel no longer exists since we have flavored gels – cranberries and apple flavor, and peach flavor. You can also choose to blend your favorite fruit into aloe vera gel to act as a natural sweetener. I prefer pure, undiluted aloe vera gel.

Forever Pomesteen Power®

Hello my friends and other interesting questions,

I joined Forever Living in November 2012 as I found their Aloe Vera Gel assisted me greatly with pain relief with my Fibromyalgia (Fibromyalgia is a condition a person has long-term. Body-wide pain, tenderness in the joints, muscles, tendons, and other soft tissues. Fibromyalgia has also been linked to fatigue, sleep problems, headaches, depression, and anxiety.).

As I have tried more of their products I have just become more and more impressed! I recently added Forever Pomesteen Power® to my morning shot of Aloe Vera Gel and it is delicious!

(The Aloe Vera Gel tastes like hell on steroids but it does great things, you however soon get use to the taste).

Forever Pomesteen Power®

There’s no disputing the fact that antioxidants are extremely vital to our health and well-being. There is, however, much discussion today among nutritionists as to  which fruit is the most powerful antioxidant, or which contains the most Xanthones or has the highest ORAC value rating.

Forever Pomesteen Power has them all with a proprietary blend of fruit juices and extracts, including Pomegranate, Pear, Mangosteen, Raspberry, Blackberry, Blueberry and Grape Seed. ORAC value (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) is an indicator of how well an antioxidant inhibits free radical damage. The ORAC value of fruits can  vary greatly, even when testing the same fruit at different times after harvesting.

What is important to know is that all of the ingredients of Forever Pomesteen Power are near the top of the list in ORAC value, especially Pomegranate and Mangosteen fruit. Pomegranate juice has more polyphenol antioxidants than red wine, green tea, cranberry juice and orange juice. In addition, it is a good source of  Vitamins A, C, E and the mineral Iron.

Mangosteen is a popular fruit in Asia. Its exquisite taste prompted Queen Victoria to declare it her favorite fruit, henceforth it has been referred to as the “Queen of Fruits!” Its ORAC value is very high, and it is rich in  beneficial Xanthones.

Xanthones are a family of naturally occurring nutritional compounds in fruits that are super powerful antioxidants. Experience the incredible power of antioxidants  from Pomegranate, Mangosteen, and other exotic fruits with Forever Pomesteen Power!

All the ingredients of Forever Pomesteen Power are near the top of the list in ORAC value.

I attended a focus group on what has always been known to me as “my school card”. When I got mine it was probably a decade ago because yes, my kids are that old. All the moms at the school my kids attended all naturally made whatever school our kids attended the beneficiary. That said, this is where my donations go:

Times they are a changing! What the evening was about, was making consumers aware that “my school card” had evolved and if you check out their easy to navigate web site you will be amazed!

It is no longer just a card for people with school going children wanting to raise extra money for their school.  It is now a really funky fund raising initiative for literally anyone! You don’t need not conceive a thing and donate money to your favourite charity! You can now choose if you would like your donations to go to “My School” “My Village” or “My Planet” or, you can split your donation between three different charities. A list of the different charities under each umbrella are available on their web site.

It was a very relaxed, informative evening held at Athol Place Boutique in Sandton next to a crackling fire,  a divine venue! The food was fabulous and the welcome drinks, gorgeous! The presenter knew her product, was approachable and just a really lovely atmosphere. Naturally we loved a bit of a gift bag to go home with.

I got to meet someone I have admired on Twitter for years. The one and only fantastic lady who started the “Twitter Blanket Drive” when she had just over 200 followers………… four years ago! I was in Twitter Celebrities heaven. I met @MelanieMinnaar !!!……. and she knew who I was! That was HUGE!

I drove home elated! 🙂 Amazing what a Tweet can do.

Follow  “My School” “My Village” or “My Planet” on Twitter and on FaceBook. I have invited my friends to join both pages.

Thank you for an awesome, informative evening!

…and then life whistled at me. @Lifeology #StarlightExpressSA

An old friend, Fi ( @figs_home ) wanted to introduce me to a friend of hers for years now. She often mentioned that we would really like each other. For some reason it just never happened….. until I replied to a tweet regarding the @Joburgtheatre and Jodene @Jodenecoza ) responded. We instantly clicked!

I have had two professional role models in my life Jyoti Moti who worked very closely with me at AForbes, a kick ass perfectionist successful consultant, and my x brother-in-law, Kevin Trudgeon who is one of the top Tax Lawyers in the country…. and here I literally clicked onto the third that would take me to a place where I knew for sure, THIS is what I wanted to be when I grow up.  Jodene Shaer of @LifeologySA .

Jodene invited to an event or two, @NocturnalWenchy was alive and well, tapped into her resources and for once I was allowed to be on my phone all I like! Small part of heaven. Even @SirNoid and @ZippyFairy helped tweet. Thank you. I appreciate the support endlessly!

I had been wanting to get more involved in Social Media. I wanted to analyse, manage accounts, review, visit events, wear glitter, write and dabble in photography, walk in soft lighting – so ….when @LifeologySA presented me with an opportunity to freelance, I grabbed it with both hands, holding a phone in one, a camera around my neck and a Galaxy pad in the other! (… and currently begging @SirNoid for his old one when he upgrades as I need more “hands”.)

Jodene & Wenchy

I am beyond grateful for the opportunity, and the beautiful people I have met, the twitter followers who keep on coming and share my excitement and the Face Book friends who are so supportive and always encouraging my growth as a person, especially my BFF, Wil, Charms and Vicky, I love you… and my Mammie and my two sisters, Mary-Ann and Rentia. Also, a huge thank you to the small business accounts I am assisting with Face Book and Twitter. You mean so much to me. THANK YOU!

HUGE thank you to @SirNoid who is getting use to me not being at home every single night and my greatest thanks goes to @Jodeansa and @ohgodknows for taking a chance on me. (Abba playing in your head yet….?)

The greatest experience in these few short months has been getting more involved with @Joburgtheatre and the amazing non replica production of #StarlightExpressSA.  I have followed the journey from the first reading, to watching the TV advert being filmed to rehearsals and technical rehearsals and having loved theatre before…. I am now safely in love with the red curtain, the glitter and the truth that music speaks to your soul.

In my personal experience you have to see #StarlightExpressSA as the MEGA musical ever to come to the South African stage because as a regular theatre lover, I have never seen anything like it. The performers are in top form – singing, dancing, performing – all on rollerskates, the music is Andrew Lloyd Webber, need I say more? The two performers that I really connected with is Weslee (Dustinsee my previous interview with him, https://twitter.com/WesleeLauder ) and Bongi (Poppa https://twitter.com/Bongi_Mthombeni ). That man has a velvet, unbelievable voice and has been my Mammie’s BBM picture since yesterday!

There’s a light at the end of the tunnel…. (the music never stops!)

Train insane or stay the same

“Never discourage anyone…..who continually makes progress, no matter how slow.” – Plato

Hello my friends,

You know in a horror movie when the girl is in the shower and the killer is walking up the stairs? We scream “Look behind you!” as we can see the neon sign with flashing lights above the bathroom door screaming “VICTIM HERE!”?

That is very similar to the fat girl joining the gym.

We signed up at @virginactiveSA gяєєиѕтσиє when Liberty Life launched their “Own Your Life” product end November 2012.

As I am by no means a small or average size girl, I expected to feel rather out of place and self concious. I felt very aware of my body and its limitations. The truth is very different.

So what did I find it is like as the fat girl in a busy, mainstream gym?

* If you are not the cute girl with the tight pant with the ponytail (some even sport make-up!), don’t worry. Nobody else does. Honestly.

* Put your ear phones on and just do your thing. No slow dancing with the moon music! You need up tempo angry chick kinda music. LOL Pink works well for me.

* Bring a bottle of water. I have a 750 ml bottle and it is finished in an hour. I wouldn’t mind a bigger bottle.

* There are trained staff to help you. Ask! Pace yourself. I started off doing 20 minutes of cardio (bike/treadmill etc). Start slow and build. I now do 60 – 80 minutes of cardio and sweat till my clothes are wet. THAT makes me feel kinda bad ass. LOL

* You must bring a sweat towel, it is the right thing to do. I sweat like a pig, although I have personally never seen a pig sweat! You need that sweat towel to wipe your brow, but also to leave equipment hygienic for the next user. There are however many cleaning staff that spray (no spit) and polish each machine after each user. It is very proper.

* I have found a packed gym to be less social than a deserted grave yard. The only time people truly interacted with me, is when the staff at the front desk swipe my membership card.

* The one exception to the above is when I wore a shirt that revealed more ink. Always the same question: Did it hurt?

** Answer: Off course it hurt! You are paying someone (in my case, Brent 076 914 7030) to use their creative skill to cause socially acceptable mutilation in a pretty pattern and/or colour. So YES, taking an sharp object, cutting your skin and injecting ink – hurts! (Why *I* personally ink, is another blog post on its own.)

* Men remain friendlier to me and may *smile* kinda in recognition that you see each other often at the same time. Woman, not so much.

* On the weights floor, big boys dominate. I find the showing off big boys annoying. They are like little kids who keep wanting you to say how fabulous they are each time they do an action. Ugh! I prefer the section with no light action telling you to move to the next machine. You find more humane people (mostly male) there who is also just doing the best they can.

* I have not ventured into any class situation. Don’t have the confidence for that… So I have not done water aerobics, yoga etc. Hopefully one day!

* The ladies change room is a funny place! Black ladies are far more confident than any other race and in my opinion much prettier. Everyone else tries to kinda hide unless they FHM material. I can with confidence tell you that FHM material are few and far between when nakkid with no make-up. Most woman are flawed. Hallelujah! Okay everyone didn’t go to town with the concept like me, but real, naked woman look nothing like the movies!

* I am not a sauna fan, but I l♡ve the steam room. My skin looks better and my sinus feels better. I always seem to have some or other sinus issue!

* I pack hotel size shampoo, conditioner, face wash, body wash and a great big towel. I often forget my hairbrush so I look kinda windswept when I leave.

* I find tracking my visits and what I did on that particular day helpful. There are facilities to track via PC, so at the end of my visit, that is the last thing I do.

* There is a creche for small kids but I can give no feedback on that as my kids are now big.

* ….oh and a small organic type outlet for smoothies and such. Just a tad expensive.

There you have it. 🙂

I wish you enough,
