A blow-wave of sexual awakening.

Tease! starring TUMI MORAKE and VANESSA FROST and directed by JOSE DOMINGOS from 27th February 2019 to 21st March 2019.

First lady of comedy, TUMI MORAKE and the original ‘CaveWOman’, VANESSA FROST team up again in Naledi-nominated TEASE! at the Auto & General Theatre on the Square. TEASE! premiered at the National Arts Festival, Grahamstown followed by a sold-out run at the Market Theatre in 2016.

Eva and Neo, best friends and partners in a suburban hair salon reach crossroads in their personal lives. Stumbling into an adult toy shop one night, they make some acquisitions and this inspires an idea…

With a healthy dose of self-deprecating humour and a whole lot of heart, versatile Tumi and Vanessa play many familiar characters including the elderly Muslim and Jewish women who return weekly to have their hair set…and sample new toys!

By arrangement with the Auto & General Theatre on the Square, the show will be presented by Bloom & Stone, a creative agency and production company that focuses on creating meaningful and accessible content. Vanessa says the meeting of minds in the process was synchronous and that extensive research went into the writing of the script. They found themselves exploring heartfelt and hard truths in order to present a potent message about female sexuality and desire. “It’s been about finding the comedy in each of these moments while exploring the moments that don’t require comedy,” she says. “It’s about answering the question we all quietly worry about – am I normal?”

Director Jose Domingos says Tease! is a journey of self-discovery, “The themes are universal which means that I think there’s a little bit for everyone if not a lot for everyone.”

Written by Jose Domingos, Vanessa Frost and Tumi Morake, TEASE! opens with a preview at Sandton’s Auto & General Theatre on the Square on 27th February and runs until the 21st March.

Nik Rabinowitz in DRY WHITE

Dear friends and other interesting creatures,

Nik Rabinowitz in DRY White at Auto & General Theatre on the Square from 13th – 23rd February 2019

In DRY WHITE, Nik Rabinowitz decided to explore the water crisis for his new show. Mostly because everyone thought the drought in Cape Town was going to last forever.

Spoiler alert: it didn’t. Now Nik will be forced to discuss other stuff too, which is a good thing because he feels like Jo’burgers didn’t care that much about the drought anyway.

Some additional topics include love, marriage, infidelity, transphobia, staying woke post forty, and whether the land should be given back. Just kidding, what white person wants to discuss that?!

It’s going to be a riot! Bookings for DRY WHITE are now open at Computicket (call 0861 915 800 or online http://www.computicket.com) or can be made by calling the theatre on 011 883-8606.

I wish you enough,

Mango Groove Celebrates 30th Anniversary!

Dear friends and other interesting creatures,

I attended my very first music concert at Ellis Park at the age of 14. I wore a tiny black mini skirt with a Mickey Mouse T-shirt. (Even I wasn’t always the size of a small African country. 😉) Claire Johnston was the drawing card for me besides the rhythm of the music.

I am thrilled to be joining many in celebration of their 30th Anniversary!

🎶 Book now! 🎶

Mango Groove along with Real Concerts will be celebrating their 30th Anniversary in “Special Star” style at the Teatro at Monte Casino on Friday 8 March 2018.
