#CrazyLoveJHB with @NocturnalWenchy @BuzPR & @MarketTheatre

Dear friends and other interesting creatures,

I would invite you to join us tomorrow evening, Tuesday 24 March 2015 for a special evening of Social Media buz around Crazy In Love using #CrazyLoveJHB as your guide. We are thrilled to be invited to participate in getting crazy in love!

Joburg – get ready to go CRAZY IN LOVE

Powerful, passionate and desperate – after winning over the festival fringe circuit in South Africa and abroad, the multiple award-winning production CRAZY IN LOVE hits Jozi.

CRAZY IN LOVE is the tragicomic story of a father-daughter search for a missing bride and mother. Devised and performed by the inspirational pairing of Andrew Buckland and Liezl de Kock, CRAZY IN LOVE is presented by A Conspiracy of Clowns in association with the Market Theatre, under the direction of Rob Murray, with design by Jayne Batzofin.

When the independent and free-spirited Leon (Buckland) is abandoned at the altar by his bride to be, he is left literally holding the baby. From his grief comes a solemn resolve: to travel the country with his infant daughter, Ginny (De Kock), until he finds his lost love and pieces his family back together. His quest quickly becomes an obsession, and at each town they don’t find her, he tattoos that town name on his skin. It is now fifteen years later. Ginny is coming of age and starting to realise the desire to achieve her own independence, while Leon has retreated into alcoholism and despair – his body a roadmap of tattoos. As their individual obsessions spiral out of control, and they become lost in their own personal routines and mythologies, a massive shift in their relationship is imminent – if they have the courage and conviction to break out of their own cycles. 10 Things Me @LIEFLINGx @RoleneStrauss @connellcruise @sa_artists @sterkinekor @mnetmovies @TheatreOnSquare @NCT_Parktown

Dear friends and other interesting creatures,

1. I collect mugs.  Places I’ve been.  Things I want to remember. Gifts from places and things other have seen.  So, if you travel or see something fab, I would appreciate a mug!

@LIEFLINGx is an amazing Afrikaans stage production.  Take it from a mug addict. You can charge more! I would have paid it.

2. I’m a little smaller. @SirNoid bought me a new costume while visiting the North West Province this week. I loved my other (purple) one but it is simply to big. I am no @RoleneStrauss and I never will be, but eating the #LCHF way has enabled me to loose a Backstreet Boy or two. I have no goal weight,  let’s just see where we go. I suspect a year from now,  I will have hit a natural plateau. If you want to keep up with recipes etc like my Facebook page www.facebook.com/wenchybanting

3. The ’empty nest syndrome’ hit me hard and proper.  While I enjoy the freedom,  time alone with @SirNoid… I do miss the laughter of a large family and knowing my kids are safe. I never thought I was a helicopter mom,  but it seems aviation isn’t far off. I miss all my kids,  not just those that gave me stretchmarks.

4. I don’t do actions.  In Sunday School (my grandfather is a pastor) when you would do matching actions to a song, I was like NO! In Primary School during war cries and people would clap and all do the same actions,  it was a NO! Now at concerts when the band is all ‘put your hands in the air!’,  I’m like…. It’s a NO! If I felt moved by your performance I would already have my hands in the air.  Don’t give me instructions.

5. I am not Sporty Spice. I hate going under water,  I am petrified of heights and being put in situations where I can’t control physical injury.  @SirNoid gets very frustrated with me. I was not an overweight child. I was very active. Who knew?  Also stupid. When nobody was around I would jump off the grandstand into the sandpit to purely because it scared me.

I understand my unwillingness to participate in situations like theme parks is annoying, however besides my fears, I do have Ankolysing Spondylitis and Fibromyalgia and I really am truly afraid of injury to my body. I felt like I lost precious time while the Dr’s were figuring it all out for MONTHS,  trying different medication. I can’t go back to that.  It’s a NO!

@SirNoid and I have been invited to do the Cape Canopy Tour next week,  I am petrified of heights but am assured I am in good hands and hopefully, like after doing the Whale Trail, I will have a sense of accomplishment! I admit,  losing weight has helped me feel I can attempt new physical experiences. Hopefully @SirNoid won’t trade me in for Sporty Spice.

6. I like urban living. After @SirNoid and I gave up Estate living for the urban jungle, there are two things I miss.  My spa bath (I love to bath) and the huge amount of space for entertaining (I love entertaining).

@SirNoid does not miss two hours in the traffic vs six minutes to sitting at his desk now! The younger kids miss the freedom of the Estate and the pool, but we couldn’t justify the cost,  vs the actual time they were with us.. especially since I was diagnosed, we were one salary down.

Being only two people in a massive house made me think of kids going hungry in townships….  I know. The smaller space did not feed the hungry kids!

7. I am involved in the world around me.  #OurDorothy  at National Children’s Theatre was a tremendous success. I hope you will continue to support @Theatre_Culture as we raise funds to take kids to the theatre who has never been. It is a R70 donation that may just spark an interest in tomorrow’s performers or various employment options within theatres!

8. I love to read.  My soul for a book.  I am in the process of collecting children’s books for children in our public health care section in association with the fabulous,  entertainer @connellcruise who is a resident.  Very Grey’s Anatomy!

Carel from @sa_artists has been incredible in his support and his hand of friendship is always open. A hand over of a portable library needs to be arranged as it currently adds to the decoration in our dining room. I would love to add more books before we do so however… You know I Like to go big or go home!

World Literacy Day is on 8 September 2015. It is still so far away….. but imagine how much bigger our outreach will be!!! Schools, other organisations, so many can still donate!  Please fill up my dining room!!! I beg REALLY well.

9. I am too busy to get the most out of every day. 2015 is all about the bass. Nahhhh it is about using the opportunity presented by a large Twitter following (almost at 23 000 followers!),  my 18 years of blogging and my Facebook transformation from personal account to a blog type page which allows a bigger following with a more focus. I would like to focus on more specific areas….

Naturally the performing arts and movies because I enjoy it hugely! I have had tremendous support from both industries for which I am most grateful. I would like to expand to more book reviews so if anyone can hook me up,  please do. I want and need to write more about the stage,  movies,  books…

A more general thought, I know I am a more effective marketing tool on Twitter but I need to cross that over to other social platforms. That said,  do LIKE my brand new page on Facebook www.facebook.com/thenocturnalwenchy –  Thank you!

10. I moved out!…. Into the blue bathroom. This bathroom use to be more bipolar than me.  It would shower and bath at the same time.

Eventually I called the plumbers and since water pressure is a huge issue in old buildings and we live in a duplex,  it was either gonna be a cold shower or a normal bath.  I chose bath as I love blue Shipmate. Now there is something few know about me! 🙂  @SirNoid thinks it’s ridiculous but he really should know after all this time that I am mere windswept and exotic!  So,  I have my own bathroom now which I quite enjoy.

I wish you enough,

5 Night Plan: A guide to strong and grounded relationships – REVIEW

5 Night Plan: A guide to strong and grounded relationships

Rich Simmonds’s 5 Night plan, truly does holds up an honest mirror in the face of relationships. Embrace the view.

– Dr Steve Maraboli New York, USA

Rich Simmonds 5 Night Plan suggests a fresh perspective on relationships and how to approach a potential long-term, concrete romantic relationship.

Personally I think the book is more suited to adults in their 30’s who is tired of wasting time dating, hoping to find “the one” and start their happily ever after. What I really loved about the book is that even in an established relationship, the topics written about is relevant regardless if you are in the beginning stages of getting to know a potential partner, or perhaps need to kick-start a long-term love.

Rich Simmonds is a gifted communicator and a master when it comes to emotional intelligence in my opinion. Reading about consistency, quality time, communication, trust, commitment, forgiveness and my favourite chapter that deals with “My intentions, your perception” is all aspects we should apply in our daily lives. We would be happier for it!

The 5 Night Plan does not get a four star rating from me because I am mentioned in the acknowledgement section. The book has nuggets of gold hidden in 86 pages. It is the kind of book where I use a soft pencil and underline in purple the parts that speak to my heart.

If you want to challenge your thinking and are in the dating game especially, or your relationship has fallen flat – read the book.

5 Night Plan is available both in print and on Kindle.

I wish you enough,

Here is the 2013 edition:

I have found it exceptionally difficult to complete this, this year – so I as for your sensitivity and love as you read my words. Just so what I write make sense, as I sit down to write this early in January 2014, if you do not already know, Dion and I separate during December 2013. I will not allow any bashing or disrespect towards him, me, nor the situation – so comments such as those, will be swiftly deleted.

I live my life in widening circles that reach out across the world. – Rainer Maria Rilke

1. What did you do in 2013 that you’d never done before?

  • Dion and I visited his parents in Swellendam and on our second trip took some of the kids along and toured a bit of the Garden Route. I loved the touring part. I loved road trips with Dion.
  • 1-Wenchy galaxy 007[1]
  • We also took some of the kids to a work incentive Dion earned to the Kruger National Park. I had not been there in 20 years and it was a fun time seeing the animals and the kids faces.
  • 1-1383916_10151660254486010_154050181_n[1]
  • I ventured into Social Media, head over my comfortable flat shoes and loving it.
  • Attending all kinds of events, premiers, running blog competitions, writing reviews about products, places and productions…  I have truly loved every second.
  • I visited backstage, sat in on rehearsals and saw shows come to live. It is a thrill I cannot adequately described – theatre is magical to the point of lost for me.
  • Jode
  • I met unbelievable people, both performers and personalities. I learned so much (Thanks @Jodeneza for getting me “started”!), I messed up, I did good, I came far in a short time, I met my Twitter Celebrity @RichSimmondsZA (seriously, it was child like LOL) – and this is only the beginning! I am thankful to all who has given to me as a teacher and a mentor. My gratitude is endless.
  • I did my first Twitter Blanket Drive!
  • I also thank Dion for his support, especially financially as setting up a new brand is not an easy task on money or time.
  • Our Kyle took part in his first body building competition. His weight loss scared me! He has always been fit, always worked out but never have had I seen him that skinny.
  • 1-Johannesburg-20130513-01416[1]
  • My watched my son @KevvieCartman perform on stage – @RIAD_Band. At the first performance I cried more than I could hear. I loved that Kevin and Chris did not just dream, but do.
  • 1-007[1]
  • I met up with an old friend….. @_Denise_Cross_ at a business function. Actually she was my maid of honour at wedding #2 ………..after almost a decade. We had grown so much emotionally yet we knew each other by heart – immediately. Awesome. She introduced me to: “Forever Living

I guess it’s funnier from where you’re standing
Cause from over here I missed the joke
Clear the way for my crash landing
I’ve done it again
Another number for your notes

I’d be smiling if I wasn’t so desperate
I’d be patient if I had the time
I could stop and answer all of your questions
As soon as I find out
How I can move from the back of the line

I’ll be your clown
Behind the glass
Go ‘head and laugh
Cause it’s funny
I would too if I saw me
I’ll be your clown
On your favourite channel
My life’s a circus circus
Round in circles
I’m selling out tonight

I’d be less angry if it was my decision
And the money was just rolling in
If I had more than my ambition
I’ll have time for ‘Please’
I’ll have time for ‘Thank you’
As soon as I win

From a distance my choice is simple
From a distance I can entertain
So you can see me
I put make-up on my face
But there’s no way you can feel it
From so far away

I wish you enough,

I attended a focus group on what has always been known to me as “my school card”. When I got mine it was probably a decade ago because yes, my kids are that old. All the moms at the school my kids attended all naturally made whatever school our kids attended the beneficiary. That said, this is where my donations go:

1-Fullscreen capture 20130728 013007 PM

Times they are a changing! What the evening was about, was making consumers aware that “my school card” had evolved and if you check out their easy to navigate web site you will be amazed!

It is no longer just a card for people with school going children wanting to raise extra money for their school.  It is now a really funky fund raising initiative for literally anyone! You don’t need not conceive a thing and donate money to your favourite charity! You can now choose if you would like your donations to go to “My School” “My Village” or “My Planet” or, you can split your donation between three different charities. A list of the different charities under each umbrella are available on their web site.

It was a very relaxed, informative evening held at Athol Place Boutique in Sandton next to a crackling fire,  a divine venue! The food was fabulous and the welcome drinks, gorgeous! The presenter knew her product, was approachable and just a really lovely atmosphere. Naturally we loved a bit of a gift bag to go home with.

I got to meet someone I have admired on Twitter for years. The one and only fantastic lady who started the “Twitter Blanket Drive” when she had just over 200 followers………… four years ago! I was in Twitter Celebrities heaven. I met @MelanieMinnaar !!!……. and she knew who I was! That was HUGE!

I drove home elated! 🙂 Amazing what a Tweet can do.

Follow  “My School” “My Village” or “My Planet” on Twitter and on FaceBook. I have invited my friends to join both pages.

Thank you for an awesome, informative evening!

I wish you enough,
